That much is revealed – a side hoop was a must have in the eighteenth century in women’s fashion. Now it’s easy, isn’t it? In case you still don’t know what I’m talking about you’ll find an explanation in the grey box below.
Must known fashion term #3: Side hoop
| A “side hoop” is a women’s undergarment worn in the eighteenth century to extend the width of the skirt at the side while leaving the front and back flat. The style originated in Spanish court dress of the seventeenth century. The fashion spread to France and then to the rest of Europe after approx. 1718-1719. By the 1780s, side hoops were normally worn only to very formal evening gowns and within court fashion. |
Just to give you also a synonym for this word – “pannier” has the same meaning and could be used interchangeably. If you’d like to learn more useful fashion terms just click yourself through our fashion dictionary.

What was typical used only by women is nowadays also a very fashionable accessory for trendy guys – the handbag or so-called ‘manbag’. The black Fred Perry leather bag has double clutch handles to the top, a long shoulder strap and an internal pouch pocket with a logo detail.
The good thing is it could be worn to any occasion whether for a casual get together or also to the office (depends on the business of course!). So guys, have a look at ASOS and get it there!

Hey guys, since we are all interested in forthcoming fashion trends, we created a new chapter where you can discuss with us why or why not you would wear our chosen outfit below.
Yves Saint Laurent’s current Spring/Summer 2011 menswear collection introduced us to a high-waisted, spotted short, drawn in with a black belt and combined with a casual dress shirt tucked into the short. For the sunny days in summer the designer chose Bakelite sun glasses as a suitable accessory and sandals as footwear.
We are curious to know your opinion of this outfit? Do you like it? Would you wear it or why not?
