Alexis Bittar
Alexis Bittar is an American jewelry designer and was born on August 25th, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York. During his study Alexis made his money by selling antique jewelry and vintage clothing on the streets of Lower Manhattan. At age 22, he decided to design his own line of costume jewelry, influenced by the antique collectible he grew up around. He began hand carving his lucide collection from within the confines of his one bedroom apartment while creating a second line, made from semi-precious stones and metals. 1992 Bittar’s bold and colorful designs began to rapidly take flight. Bittar was soon discovered by fashion director of Bergdorf Goodman, who offered the budding designer his first steps into the world of retail. 1998 he designed his first Burberry’s ready-to-wear jewelry collection, interpreting their signature plaid onto lucide. In 2004 Bittar opened his first eponymous boutique, located in SoHo, New York. In the meantime he has 3 stores in New York.
