Parsons
Parsons, New School for Design, founded by the American impressionist painter William Merit Chase in 1896 as the “Chase School”. Like the name already says, Parsons is a private school for design that is located in lower Manhattan, New York and is known for being one of the best design schools in the world. Chase brought art and design students to his school that were bored by the other art schools and were looking for more freedom and something more dramatic and individual. In 1898, Chase changed the name of the school to “New York School of Art”. 1904, Frank Alvah Parsons joined Chase and became the President of the school in 1910. Parsons foresaw a merge of the industry, which was going through a new revolution and the arts. He establishes new programs such as fashion design, interior design and advertising.
