    Rick Owens

Rick Owens, American fashion designer, born 1962 in Portsville. Owens started his fashion career studying fine arts at Ortis College of Art and Design from which he droped out after two years. He continued to study pattern making and worked for different fashion companies before founding his own label in 1994, which at first was little known. Through the support of Anna Wintour and a picture of Kate Moss wearing one of his jackets in Paris Vogue, Owens gains huge popularity over night and in 2002 first shows his collection at New York Fashion Week. Owen’s designs are now worn by many celebrities including Madonna and Rihanna and are sold in boutiques and high-end department stores around the world. Owen’s collections are dark with a color pallet that is limited to black, white and grey. He loves fur and draping and calls his fashion ‘glunge’, a mixture of glamorous and grunge. The designer describes his fashion as elegant with a hint of ‘sluttiness’.
