Cynthia Rowley, American Fashion Designer, born 1958 in Barrington. Rowleys earliest intentions were to become a painter, studying at the School of Art Institute Chicago. She was kicked out of the school for her designs being too over the top and moved to New York, where she designed her first fashion collection. She famously presented this collection in her own walk-up apartment and invited all famous editors, of which none came. Yet soon her extravagant designs attracted the press and buyers. Today, Rowley is internationally known with 60 own boutiques world-wide, her own book and appearances on various TV-Shows including Project Runway. Rowleys brand offers womenswear, menswear, accessories, handbags and cosmetics. Her vintage-inspired designs are playful yet sophisticated in bright colors.
