    Stove Pipe Hat

A Stove Pipe Hat is a tall hat with narrow brim, worn in the 18th to the 20th century. The first high-crowned silk hat in England was introduced by George Dunnage in 1793 and is simply known as a Cylinder Hat aka Top Hat, Silk Hat, and Chimney Pot Hat. Sometimes even nicknamed ‚Topper‚, it is made of silk fabric, mostly shinny or beaver cloth. Now, the Stove Pipe Hat is usually only worn in combination with a morning dress or white tie, in dressage, as servants‘ workwear, doormen’s livery, or as a fashion statement.
