Fashion History Classics: Who invented the Wrap Dress?
Fashion designer Diane von Fuerstenberg had a breakthrough for introducing the knitted jersey ‘wrap-dress’ in 1973. Its fundamental form was already deeply embedded in the American designer sportswear collection. But Diane has accomplished to translate the already existing style into 1970s fabrics and colors, generally brighter, bolder, more synthetic and stretchy than the early examples to which the silhouette and design principle are indebted.

The skew-cut wrap-dress and tops became widely known after Vogue Magazine had mentioned it in their issue. Until now the famous dress is a very popular women’s garment especially in the summer time.
