Today is the last day of creative director Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga. For the PPR-owned fashion house the best contender to replace Ghesquière was New York fashion designer Alexander Wang who is taking over as their new creative director next week, according to WWD.
Known for Wang’s streetwise edge, he became one of the famous upcoming fashion stars in America. His new challenge, the split between designing for his own label and being the new creative mind at the fast growing Paris fashion house Balenciaga, will be tough. But he is not the only one having two jobs at the same time, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, only to mention a few and probably the half of New York’s population do amazingly well and so will Alexander Wang. There is no doubt about it in our minds. Good luck to you Alexander!
