Berlin Fashion Week: Marina Hoermanseder Fall/Winter 2015 Runway Show

    Januar 27th, 2015

Marina Hoermanseder, an Austrian-French fashion designer founded her namesake fashion brand in 2013. The Berlin-based womenswear label represents bold individualism. For her current Fall / Winter 2015 collection Hoermanseder was inspired by Sean Young in Blade Runner. The designer literally lived up to her name and showed us her trademark look: bold colors like bright red, royal blue but also stone gray leather, buckled and crossed into dresses, skirts and corsets. A lot of barrel, bucket and pocket shapes with fabrics like washed leather, wool and silk were shown.

Given the fact that this collection is going to be a difficult sell since a lot of her designs are not wearable on a daily basis (much to the likes of Lady Gaga), Hoermanseder however did a great job in combining the finest artisan sophistication with eccentric yet elegant designs.

Berlin Fashion Week: Use Unused Fall/Winter 2015 Runway Show

    Januar 26th, 2015

The Hungarian fashion brand USE UNUSED that focuses on high contemporary designs presented their latest collection on Thursday evening at Berlin Fashion Week. Founded in 2004 by Eszter Füzes, Attila Godena-Juhász and András Tóth, the brand’s goal is to “create a worldwide-known Hungarian high contemporary fashion label globally”.

The Fall/Winter 2015/2016 collection was inspired by a timeless journey through Hungary of the 1970′s. Monochromatic colors, costumes and uniform details mirrored through a clean, precise and sophisticated cut. Wool, leather, cotton and silk were the essential fabrics of this collection. All shades from beige to olive-brown colors were shown as well.

All in one you can say the entire collection is just perfectly made for any confident and self-demanding woman who is not afraid to create her own style.

Berlin Fashion Week: Hien Le Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Show

    Januar 20th, 2014

The Berlin-based fashion designer Hien Le was the first to show his Fall 2014 collection at the Fashion Week in Berlin. The “best newcomer” who made his first runway debut at MBFW in Germany’s capitol in July 2011, stayed true to his ultra-clean aesthetic. He kept things simple with silhouettes inspired by athletic basics, for men and women. The up and comer showed knitted sweaters for him and her, as well as translucent dresses and tops in beautiful fall hues like wine and midnight blue. Hien Le ended his show on a refreshing note with a parade of clean white looks.

Berlin Fashion Week: Marcel Ostertag Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Show

    Januar 16th, 2014

If you are looking for stylish, yet wearable German fashion you should not miss Marcel Ostertag. The young designer graduated at Central St. Martins College in London in 2006 with honors and since has been working with some of the biggest brands in fashion such as Paul Smith and Burberry. In 2008, Ostertag created his own label and has been showing his collections on the runways of Shanghai, Beijing, Berlin and London. His creations and great fashion sense have earned him various awards in the industry.

At his Show, the designer himself was the first to strut the runway in heels and a flowing silk dress. The models followed him to 80’s glam rock with their hair in tight buns and cat-eye glasses. The collection featured flowing silk dresses, ostrich feather covered sweaters, a new material that looked like a shinny, long-fringed carpet, thin leather dresses and skirts, and fur-everything from dresses to sweaters. A reoccurring trend this year seems to be oversized sleeves which were also shown in Kilian Kerner’s show. All together the collection was well rounded, included a new usage of materials and I am sure it will be a self-runner in the stores.

BOLD: Fur sweaters // Flowing leather dresses // Extended ribbed collars on coats OLD: Cheap-looking new fabrics // “Casual” silk dresses

Berlin Fashion Week: Kilian Kerner Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Show

    Januar 15th, 2014

Kilian Kerner is one of the new German designers that should be watched! At just 34 and after only 10 years of having his own label, Kerner is enjoying a great success with his brand Kilian Kerner, which is now sold in 14 countries and is worn by famous actresses and models such as Eva Padberg and Karolina Kurkovà. Also Kerner has caught the attention of the international press with the renowned fashion journalist Suzy Menkes calling him major talent among the up and coming designers.

The Kilian Kerner models walked the runway with slicked back hair and Doc Martens to the beat of live music played next to the runway. The very extensive collection featured exaggerated sleeves on crop tops, knee length skirts in metallic green and red, printed quilt jackets and skirts and satin and silk over skinny leather. The collection seemed to lack cohesiveness at times, which was partially due to the large amount of outfits offered which included many eye-catching designs.

BOLD: Satin over leather // Exaggerated sleeves on crop top sweaters // Native american prints on quilted bomber jacket
OLD: Unflattering mid-riff cut outs // Grandma’s quilt as dresses // Oversize suits

Streetstyle Berlin: Dress of the week #56 – Tobi Olayinka

    März 12th, 2013

Tobi’s hairstyle was just amazing. It reminded me a bit of Margre Simpson only more fashionable! He was wearing a baggy 3/4 pants made by himself and a long military-style double breasted coat along with Marton boots. I really liked his outfit – it was definitely something you wouldn’t see so often.

Streetstyle Berlin: Dress of the week #50 – Justus Toussis

    Februar 12th, 2013

I met Justus at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. The 19 year old looked amazing in his outfit: a leather jacket and pants combined with a beautiful fur vest and black boots by Burberry. But Justus rocked it all with his bow tie, a Vintage hat from London and a matching Louis Vuitton bag. I’d say two thumbs up for Mr. Toussis!

Berlin Fashion Week: Marcel Ostertag & holyGhost Fall/Winter 2013 Runway Show

    Januar 23rd, 2013

Marcel Ostertag Fall/Winter 2013 Runway Show

The Munich-based fashion designer Marcel Ostertag brought us back to the “modern” 80′s. Bold printed designs, a lot of colors and sparkle dominated his newest collection. The best part was the end: the designer himself was walking down the runway in his womenswear designs with high heels, long hair and a beard. Too bad that this highlight didn’t come as a surprise.

    holyGhost Fall/Winter 2013 Runway Show

It was only 2010, when the trio Sedina Halilovic, Ivana Bogicevic and Jelena Radovanovic founded their fashion label holyGhost in Munich, Germany. “Holy” to them is their friendship, ingenious their function. The newest collection was interpreted with harmony, exciting silhouettes and extravagant details. Very simple but also special somehow.

BOLD: Array of colorful original prints // Beautiful maxi dresses // Clean cuts OLD: Too simple // Very expected collection // Nothing exciting

Berlin Fashion Week: Dimitri Fall/Winter 2013 Runway Show

    Januar 22nd, 2013

Dimitri’s Runway Show last Wednesday was our favorite at Berlin Fashion Week. His perfect sense for combining harmony, romantic and styling with sophisticated tailoring was amazing to watch. The Italian-based designer remained true to his trademark: the silhouette in his designs were very feminine and clean.
