John Galliano, the former chief designer of the French couture house Christian Dior, impressed his audience in his F/W 2011 runway show with a harried horde of Russian emigrés in great big coats, tufty shearling, and military jackets. What do you guys think of this coat below – NO or GO?

Betsey Johnson’s F/W 2011 collection was the launch of her lower-priced Pink Patch line, which is basically a reprisal of Johnson’s greatest hits— cabbage rose, skull-print leggings and tees, Victorian corset blazers and full petticoated prom dresses as shown in the picture below. What do you think guys, is it a NO or GO for Betsey Johnson?

“Where uptown meets downtown” is Lanvin’s creative supremo Alber Elbaz inspiration of his F/W 2011 men’s collection.  “A return to elegance—the word is always being used to describe old people. When you talk about the young, it’s always ‘cool’ or ’sexy’, but we wanted to introduce elegance to the young,” said Elbaz proudly after his Fashion Show. What do you think – is this outfit below a GO for elegant or rather a NO for – no way?

For the Spring Summer 2011 men’s collection, Miuccia Prada explained that she had wanted everything as simple as possible in terms of fabrication, construction, and silhouette. And here we go, as you can see she used a lot of cotton and the color blue.

Today we thought Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2011 gown would be a good basis for a discussion. Sarah Burton who was working beside Lee Alexander McQueen for 15 years, is now the head-designer of the brand after McQueen committed suicide in February 2010.

Burton opted for a nurturing atmosphere in her newest collection: a pagan, Earth-Mother-ly spirit. She was also steadily reclaimed by nature: wrapped in embroidered fronds, in leaves of black leather, in a raffia-trimmed brocade, in the wings of monarch butterflies or an enveloping mass of feathers.

Yves Saint Laurent’s current Spring/Summer 2011 menswear collection introduced us to a high-waisted, spotted short, drawn in with a black belt and combined with a casual dress shirt tucked into the short. For the sunny days in summer the designer chose Bakelite sun glasses as a suitable accessory and sandals as footwear.
