    Adam Lippes, is an American fashion label that was founded in 2004 in New York by the namesake fashion designer himself. After studying Psychology at Cornell University, History and Architecture in Paris, Lippes began his fashion career working for Ralph Lauren and soon after for Oscar de la Renta.

    Adam Lippes was quickly recognized as an outstanding talent and was promoted to the creative director within only few years.

    A brooch is a decorative pin that is attached to a garment or hat with the purpose of fastening or closing the garment. Brooches are often highly ornamental and are richly adorned with gem stonespearls, and decorations made of gold and silver.

    Today, brooches are mostly worn only for decorative purposes.

    Let’s ask the Fashion Dictionary: Who’s Sonia Rykiel?

    Sonia Rykiel was a French fashion designer who was born in 1930 in Paris and sadly just died on August 25th 2016.

    Must known fashion person #59: Sonia Rykiel

    Rykiel started her fashion career as a window displayer in a Parisian textile store. After not finding any soft sweaters to wear while she was pregnant in 1962, she decided to design her own knitwear maternity clothes and tiny sweaters 5 years later. Due to her love to knits she was soon crowned ‘The Queen of Knits’ by the Americans in 1967.

    Rykiel also became the first designer to put seams on the outside of a garment, and to print words on her sweater.

    She is a German model, born in 1970 in Rheinberg, Germany. For being the cover girl on more than 1000 international magazines, Schiffer is well known in the fashion industry. Her incredible resemblance to French actriss and model Brigitte Bardot at the beginning of her model career rose the attention within the industry.

    Cynthia Vincent is a well known American Fashion Designer.

    Must known fashion person #55: Cynthia Vincent

    After graduating from Parsons School for Design, Vincent was awarded with the silver thimble for design. She was then designing for different fashion brands such as Harriet Selwyn, before she decided to find her own fashion brand St. Vincent in 1993. Her classic yet diverse silhouettes lead the company to great success. In 2003, Vincent first showed her collection at New York Fashion week and started expanding her brand internationally.

    Today, St. Vincent, now Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, is sold in over 300 boutiques world-wide, is sold at Barneys and Bloomingdales and has had collaborations with Target and QVC which have been a huge success.

    A muslin is a woven cotton fabric made in many weights from light to heavy and is usually produced from carded cotton yarn. It typically comes as a white fabric and is often used in dressmaking to make sewing patterns.

    The muslin has its origin in the Middle East and was first introduced in Europe in the 17th century.

Over the time Apfel became very well known for her style and huge round glasses. Today, she spreads the message of style around the US lecturing at universities and continues to be one of fashions biggest icons.

    Betty Halbreich is one of New York’s many icons – an icon of personal shopping.

    Today we’ll introduce you to Betty Halbreich, an American personal shopper who was born in 1928 in Chicago. Born into a wealthy family in Chicago, she married a rich hotel businessman at a young age with whom she moved to New York. Here she spent her time shopping in expensive fashion boutiques and living within the high society. After the divorce from her husband, Halbreich put her experience to use and became a personal shopper, first at Geoffrey Beene later at Bergdorf Goodman.

    Working with very rich clientele and various A-list celebrities, Halbreich developed a reputation as a frighteningly direct yet extremely knowledgeable personal shopper. Celebrities such as Joan Rivers and Elizabeth Taylor were amongst her regular clients.

    The use of omni-channel retailing has become close to mandatory in today’s economy though many customers find it an intrusion of their privacy.

    Omni-channel retailing is a retailing strategy that makes use of multiple channels that preferably work together to motivate customers to purchase a product. Omni-channel retailing started as multi-channel retailing with a combination of brick and mortar stores and ordering options such as catalogs and ordering via telephone.

    Today the rapid technical evolution has expanded the possibilities of multi-channel retailing for example through the Internet, mobile phones and GPS tracking. Using these multiple channels in cooperation is called omni-channel retailing.
