    Streetstyle Berlin: Dress of the week #51 – Amelie Klever

    I really loved Amelie Klever’s rock & chic outfit at Berlin Fashion Week. Dressed in a Gina Tricot jacket and tights, Amelie chose a top from Glamours by PC and boots from Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M. Beautiful!

    Streetstyle New York: Dress of the week #33 – Michelle

    Michelle loves to mix and match, she loves vintage clothes, knows how to stand out from the crowd and how to be different. And as you can see she has it all. The Bebe blazer with her vintage shirt combined with this beautiful tutu skirt is a nice way to show fast fashion, not to mention the H&M bow hat, and high fashion at the same time. Her animal printed ankle boots hit it big!

    Streetstyle New York: Dress of the week #32 – Vanessa

    She did it perfectly, didn’t she? Vanessa skillfully combined high fashion with fast fashion. The beautiful blue-grey fur coat from Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M matched her blue colored Gina Tricot skinny jeans very well. She chose Steven Madden for her foodwear and completed her streetstyle with a Donna Karan handbag. I would say – two thumbs up for her.

    Latest Fashion News: Marni to Collaborate with H&M

    They’ll do it again. After Versace was the last brand that collaborated with the Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M less than a month ago, Marni is going to be the next!

    The Italian label founded and designed by Consuelo Castiglioni is popular of having a touch of quirk—luxe boho, offbeat and a nod to arts and crafts. “I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements,” said the designer in an interview with Forbes Magazine on November 29th 2011.

    The Marni for H&M collection will hit the stores worldwide on March 8, 2012. There will be a women’s and men’s collection and fashionable accessories like jewelry and their conical hats.

    Latest Fashion News: Versace to Collaborate with H&M

    Ladies and Gentlemen get ready for Versace’s debut at the Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M. The one-time collection will be big and includes two rollouts, one on November 17th 2011 including men’s, women’s, and homewear, and another prespring collection on January 19th 2012.

    “The womenswear collection will be dominated by dresses that express the spirit of the season, featuring studded leather, silk and colorful prints, and accessories including high heels and costume jewelry. The men’s collection will focus on sharp tailoring, including the perfect tuxedo, as well as belts and jewelry for men. For the first time in a designer collaboration at H&M, the collection will include homeware pieces including pillows and bedspread too,”  were the words of H&M’s press release.     As you already know, H&M has previously also collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Roberto Cavalli, Comme des Garcons, Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo, Sonia Rykiel and Lanvin.

    We are now looking forward who is going to be next.

    We met Katie, the next Streetstyle in New York on Fifth Avenue. With a yellow Topman dress, purple shoes and a very nice Vintage H&M ring she looked just perfectly dressed for the summer.

    Latest Fashion News: Fashion meets Crowdsourcing at DLD Conference

    We just stumbled on a very interesting and informative panel interview with Natalie Massenet, founder of online luxury fashion retailer Net-a-Porter, Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Adviser of H&M and Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at NYU, moderated by Fashion Editor for the Financial Times, Vanessa Friedman.  The Fashion Panel was all about the use of crowdsourcing for fashion brands, focused on the question if customers still want to follow the strong given fashion-trends from their retailer or rather prefer bringing in their own ideas and fashion designs somehow.

    Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet especially relies on the different opportunities of customization. She was talking about the possibility to reorder things out of former collections, the huge choice of different fashion items and a better predictability of sales. Massenet also talked about the online retailers future plans. She will have an online platform called Net-a-Porter Live, on which her customers can communicate with each other. It is planed that they will be able to see who’s online, what they put in their baskets and what advice they’ll give to each other in real time.

    Margareta van den Bosch of H&M is convinced that it has to be a little bit of both: the designers or companies ideas/invention as well as including the customers desires as good as possible. That’s why she proudly revealed to be the first company to produce a collection with a Swedish fashion blogger right now.

    Scott Galloway of New York University on the other hand is an advocate of crowd sourced marketing and therefore doesn’t see crowd sourcing as a huge field for luxury brands to soon. He is convinced that a lot of the brands have to learn first how to include the social media aspect correctly to communicate with their customers actually. Galloway claimed the user reviews are the most successful tool to mounting sales on the website. As long as the negative reviews only make up between 5 and 15 percent, the sales go up, because the negative reviews give credence to the positive ones. Galloway also added: “The biggest success comes from those who trust themselves and ignore customer preferences for their own vision – for example Steve Jobs.”

    Lately we walked by Cederic Walker in SoHo and couldn’t resist taping him and his gorgeous outfit. He makes a very good example how to combine high fashion brands like Alexander McQueen with fast fashion accessories without losing the main purpose of fashion: To look breathtaking. And Cederic certainly does. What kind of brands do you mix together to keep it stylish?

    Fashion Style Tip: Ready for a sneak peek?

    Lanvin fashion designer Alber Elbaz created indeed a very pricey but also very modern and fancy looking men’s sneaker. The beaded pattern on the side makes them unique, don’t you think? For all of you who haven’t heard about it yet – Lanvin is collabrating with H&M next week with a one-time 30-piece collection. Maybe we’ll get then similar looking sneakers to an affordable price? Let’s have a look.

    Latest Fashion News: Lanvin to Collaborate with H&M

    Swedish fast fashion house H&M has been working with guest high-end fashion designers since 2004. The fast fashion retailer has 1,100 stores in 21 countries and is widely known for bringing runway-fresh looks to retail at very affordable price points. The intention of making clothes available to the thousands of people who can’t afford to shop at their favorite high-fashion designer is the idea behind the collaborations.

    Lanvin for H&M

    German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was the first one who had made an one-time collection with 30 pieces for H&M in November 2004. At that time he explained in an interview with the retailer that ‘design is very important, and certainly not a question of price anymore.’

    Since then other exclusive collections of famous high-end fashion designers had come out one after another: Stella McCarney in 2005, Roberto Cavalli in 2007, Jimmy Choo in 2009, only to mention a few.
    The good news is that the fast fashion retailer now will meet French fashion house Lanvin with a 30-piece-collection which will go on sale on November 23rd ,2010.
