    Mini Skirt

    April 18th, 2013

A mini-skirt is a skirt that is extremely short and ends above the knee. The general length of the skirt ranks from 4 to 12 inches. Causing a modern revolution by introducing the first mini-skirt in the ‘Swinging Sixties‘ to the public, the London fashion designer Mary Quant, already experimented with shorter skirts for her own London boutique “Baazar” in the 1950s. Mini skirts were only seen before as sport skirts worn by female tennis players. In 1965, Quant eventually had a break-through with her invention after the postwar period. The designer gave the women’s world finally an alternative to dress other than conservative.

    Hot Pants

    März 28th, 2013

‘Hot pants’ is the modern word for ‘short shorts’. They usually have an inseam length of 2 inches (50 mm) or even less and are meant to emphasize especially two body-parts of a woman: her legs and her butt. Due to that fact, the shorts were named hot pants. They were invented by fashion designer Mary Quant during the ‘Swinging London‘ scene of the mid-1960s. Hot pants were very popular up to the early 1970s and started to come back in late 2000s.
