    Wide Lapel

    Juni 21st, 2013

Lapels are created by folding flaps of cloth at the edges of a jacket or coat over and sewing them to the collar of the garment. Lapels are most common on suit jackets and coats and come in different shapes and sizes. A lapel is considered regular size if the lapel almost touches the imaginary line that indicates the half distance between the shoulder and the collar. Any lapel that is larger than that is called a wide lapel, any lapel slimmer is called a skinny or slim lapel. Notched lapels are mostly found on business jackets, peaked lapels, the more formal once among the lapels are found on double-breasted jackets and shawl lapels are used on tuxedos.
