    The Top 9 Shoe Designer

    What woman doesn’t have the problem to know what kind of shoes she wants to wear? It’s a challenging decision we have to make every day. And to give you a little help for the future, I’m going to let you know who the Top 9 Shoe Designers are.     1_Giuseppe Zanotti

    Giuseppe Zanotti, Italian shoe designer, born in 1957. In 1994, Zanotti felt the need to create styles without any bounds, so he bought the Vicini shoe factory, where he devoted his time to designing and manufacturing his own shoes. Zanotti saw that factory as something more akin to a fashion house set up to meet the needs of every woman’s foot, and not as an industrial concern that mass produces tedious shoes. In 2000, the designer’s first collection was presented in New York, where buyers immediately welcomed his talent of making remarkable jewel shoes. Zanotti still remains as one of the best high-end shoe designer.

    2_Christian Louboutin

    Christian Louboutin, French footwear designer, born 1964 in France. He founded his namesake high-end women’s shoe label in 1991. His designs are widely known for its shiny, red-coated soles. Louboutin’s professed goal is ‘to make a woman look sexy, beautiful and to make her legs look as long as [he] can.’

    3_Manolo Blahnik

    Manolo Blahnik, Spanish fashion designer, born 1942 in Canary Islands, Spain. He is the head designer and founder of his namesake high-end shoe brand that was founded in 1972. Blahnik started off his fashion career after graduation from the University of Geneva in 1965, before he worked at a fashion store called ‘Zapata’ three years later in London. The young and talented designer had the opportunity to show his portfolio of self-made fashions to then famous fashion editor of Vogue Magazine, Diana Vreeland. She was the one who talked Blahnik into designing footwear only. In 1972, the designer got an assignment to design shoes for Ossie Clark’s fashion show and gained immediate attention in the fashion world. That same year, he took a loan and opened his very first own shoe boutique. Today, Manolo Blahnik’s are internationally known and adored by women not only due to the popular TV series “Sex and the City” but also because of his very unique and sophisticated shoe artwork and craftsmanship.

    4_Ruthie Davis

    Ruthie Davis, American-born shoe designer, based in New York. Davis launched her namesake shoe label in 2006 after working in the industry for years, designing for well known brands such as Reebok. Today the American shoe designer is considered to be one of the seven most influential shoe designer worldwide. Ruthie Davis is mostly known for her sexy and sophisticated high-heels with distinct architectural shapes and a vivid color palette. Her designs are inspired by the contradiction of minimalism and glamor. Davis herself describes her styles as the symbiosis of Manolo Blahink pumps and a Nike sports shoe. Although Davis herself works out of New York City, all here shoes are handcrafted in Italy. As of 2012, Ruthie Davis added a women’s and men’s sneaker collection to her brand.

    5_Jimmy Choo

    Jimmy Choo, Malaysian shoe designer, born 1952 in Penang, Malaysia. Choo founded his namesake shoe label in 1986 which he is best known for. Based in London, Choo designed his first pair of shoes at age 11 before graduating at the Cordwainer Technical College in 1983. Only five years later, his gifted talent, craftsmanship and designs were featured at Vogue Magazine which helped him get immediate attention in the fashion industry. Choo’s is best known for his high heels, often with unique decoration such as beading’s, spikes and feathers.

    6_Michael Antonio

    Michael Antonio, fast-fashion footwear brand, founded in 1970. It offers contemporary dress shoes for fashion-conscious women around the world to affordable prices. Michael Antonio’s trademark: sexy, modern, and edgy. The brand appeals to a broad range of women offering anything from stilettos, to sophisticated pumps and chic flats.

    7_Kei Kagami

    Kei Kagami, Japanese shoe designer, based in London. Kagami started studying architecture and tailoring in Japan before he moved to London to work for the British designer John Galliano. After working for Galliano for three years and studying at Central Saint Martins College in London, he started to design under his own name in 1997. In 2000, Kagami found his fascination for shoes and has been designing avant-garde high-heels ever since. His designs are inspired by architecture, futurism and surrealism but are playful and experimental. Kagami is known for his use of unusual materials such as metal and fiberglass and loves playing with the space in between the elevated heel and the ground.

    8_Janina Alleyne

    Janina Alleyne, British footwear designer, based in London. Alleyne studied footwear design at DeMontfort University in Leicester before starting to create her own futuristic designs. Inspired by under water creatures and invertebrate animals she created her best known collection ‘Exoskeleton’ consisting of 3D printable, almost colorless high heels that are more beautiful and artistic than functional and practical. Her designs are more art than fashion and have won her different fashion design awards.

    9_Charles David

    Charles David, Italian-born, American shoe designer. David launched his namesake line in 1967 in Canada. The collection includes shoes, boots and handbags sold in Charles David boutiques, selected department stores and specialty stores across the U.S. Until today, all Charles Davide shoes are manufactured mostly in Italy. The brand’s focus remains in the production of fashionable heels.
