New York Fashion Week: Zang Toi Fall/Winter 2015 Runway Show

    Februar 18th, 2015

Zang Toi wowed his audience at Lincoln Center last night as he presented his jaw-dropping Fall/Winter 2015 Collection “Mystique Beauty of Venice”. To the sound of alluring opera music the designer opened the show with an elegant collection of black pantsuits accessorized with black and mahogany rabbit fur, silk and wool tweeds and taupe lamb suede twin sets. The majority of the pieces were heavy on black and taupe creating a dramatic yet sophisticated look with a hint of romantic mystique. The second half of the runway show earned the designer rousing applause from the audience as he sent out his models wearing glamorous black couture silk satin gowns, bronze lamé fortuny pleated gowns and black lamé fortuny pleated Venetian gowns that brought sunny Venice to snowy and cold New York City. The stunning show concluded with the Grand Finale look for which the renowned designer received a standing ovation: a male model in a black cotton velvet dinner suit and a Venetian feather mask walked the runway hand in hand with a model wearing a taupe silk gazar grand opera cape with hand-beaded black sequins outlining the Venetian skyline. Toi’s latest creations capture the beauty of Venice while paying homage to the sophisticated, glamorous and timeless beauty of the female form. Bravissimo!

New York Fashion Week: Zang Toi Fall/Winter 2014 Runway Show

    Februar 13th, 2014

Zang Toi took the audience on a journey to Shanghai and the 1930’s with his “Paris of the Orient” collection at Lincoln Center last night. The renowned designer, who is known for his chic and elegant creations, opened the show with cashmere glen-plaid 1930’s gangster trouser suits and trench jackets followed by English wool tweed skirt and blazer accompanied by instrumental jazz music from the “Twin Peaks” soundtrack. The tweedy looks were followed by gorgeous Shanghainese Tai Tai suits and coats, extravagant and beautiful long black and jade silk empress gowns, jade ostrich feather mini cape and pouf which were the standout pieces of the show. The color jade was the key element in Toi’s Fall/Winter collection and was featured in the majority of his creations worn by the models last night. All together, the collection was a vibrant mix of oriental inspired designs in a palette of opium, black and jade and highlighted what the House of Toi does best: creating sophisticated, glamorous and timeless beauty of the female form. At the end of the show Zang Toi walked the runway with one of his models while receiving a standing ovation from the audience for his latest Fall/Winter 2014 collection.

New York Fashion Week: Zang Toi Spring 2013 Runway Show

    September 12th, 2012

French romance was in the air last Sunday night at Zang Toi’s Spring 2013 show in New York. Inspired by the romantic French Riviera, Zang Toi amazingly chose soft colors for his collection which nevertheless made stunning and bold statements. The French classical music setting underlined the mood of being in the Cote D’Azur in South of France just perfect.

The designer opened his show with boudoir looks — a gorgeous ivory floor-length silk morning gown with pleaded ruffled borders and a beaded ivory mini-robe. Softly structured tweedy looks were followed after sexy secretaries in suit-costumes with pinstripes were walking down the runway. Toi closed the show with beautiful, long soirée gowns — a giant tulle bubblegum Cinderella ballgown followed by a parade of “Disney dresses” in silk gazar.

All gowns were embellished with beautiful crystals on the shoulders, neck and hem line. Big delicate bows and puffed sleeves added a touch of sophistication. Soft colored flowers that looked like bouquets were precisely placed at the back of low cut dresses giving each look a very unique appearance.

Zang Toi’s Spring 2013 Collection is magnifique

A few menswear looks were also shown with the same dress code: handsome in black silk tailcoat with attached sculpted collar, ivory silk dupioni tuxedo shirt and top hats.

All in all, Zang Toi fantastically showed nearly every facade of today’s women style: the business woman, the sexy and independent gal and last but not least the princess we all dream to be at some point in time. From the beginning to the end, the collection and music was marvelous. As Zang Toi walked the runway with muse Julie Macklowe, the audience rose to their feet and gave him a well deserved standing ovation for his elegant display that successfully captured the enchantment of the French Riviera. Chapeau Mr. Toi.

BOLD: Softly structured tweedy looks // Beautiful long soirée gowns // Delicate bows and puffed sleeves OLD: Sometimes slightly too couture-ish
